I have tried other camps, and this one is head and shoulders above the rest. Stephanie J. - Southwest Austin [02/12/2008]I admit it. I'm a boot camp junkie. I can't get enough and will truly miss it in the evenings over the summer. I had heard about AABC 2 years ago, but at the time was too timid to give it a try. I didn't think I could hack it and continued with my half-hearted attendance at the local gym. After my twins were born a year and a half later, I decided that this was it. Now that I was finished with pregnancies and child birth, I wanted to commit to becoming fit and healthy. I gave Stephanie McD a call to find out more about camp, and before I had committed myself, she said, "So, we'll see you tonight then?" I gulped out a "Yes" and headed up there for the PM class. From the first class I was hooked. I love exercising outside. I love how the workout changes every day. I love working with a group of like-minded people. I love watching my body slim down and become stronger. I even flex my arms in the mirror because I have something to flex (blush). I've gone from a size 22 to a size 12, and even though I still have a long journey ahead of me to get to where I want to be, I know that I will be able to do it. I've never felt more empowered. Julie T. - Northwest Austin [10/15/2006]I first attended Austin Adventure Boot Camp in September 2005. In only one month, I lost 11 lbs, 4% body fat, and a lot of inches. My mile had improved by over 1 minute…and better yet, I could actually RUN a mile. After attending Stephanie’s boot camp, I decided to try a 12 week camp at a national gym chain. I was thoroughly disappointed. In the 12 weeks, we went through 6 different instructors. The gym didn’t make us a priority. Even though we paid over $600, personal training clients took precedence over us. They would just assign us a new instructor who would then have to get to know us. Our time was never maximized, and we were paraded through the gym as advertisement. Needless to say, I returned to Austin Adventure Boot Camp once my 12 weeks was up. It was so refreshing! Stephanie’s camp is outdoors, starts on time, maximizes your time, kicks your butt, and you know who is teaching every day. I have found it to be one of the most rewarding exercise programs I have ever done. She knows how to run a boot camp! Jen G. - Southwest Austin [4/07/2007] There's a story I wanted to tell you.
Lenna K. - Circle CI just want to thank you formally for the really fantastic boot camp that we just completed tonight! I felt challenged every night, and I feel like I not only got my money's worth, but truly enjoyed being a part of it. Thank you again for putting so much effort into making it a great workout experience. I feel like I am capable of a much higher level of fitness since I've participated in the boot camps. Before boot camp, I walked regularly and lifted some weights, but now I run, lift, do push-ups and I am faster and stronger than at any other point in my adult life. As a bonus, I feel comfortable with my body for the first time since I had my two kids. When I'm not there, I miss watching the clouds roll by over my head while I lie on my back and do crunches! I worked out with a personal trainer for three years, and I feel like Andrea pushes harder and I have gotten even better results. I hit my pre-pregnancy weight yesterday and plan to keep right on going. Adalia D. - Northwest AustinThis is my 4th camp and I think it's about time that I give praise to Julie!!! Since I started the boot camps, I have lost 14 pounds, lost 8" off my waist, 4" off my hips, 2" off each thigh, calf and arm. This is not to mention the muscle that I have gained. I am delighted to be trained by Julie, she is upbeat and fun but most of all cares about our health and fitness goals. Thank you! Melanie S. - Circle CBoot camp has really helped me to get back in shape after having a baby. My body has come back to its pre-baby state in just a few months and I think I am in even better shape than before and have more energy to play with my 10 month old all day. Stephanie's leadership is motivational and encouraging and has kept me re-enlisting every month. I'll have a hard time trying to go back into a gym for the same old routine after doing this camp in the great outdoors - I mean, to be able to watch meteor showers while doing crunches is just unbelievable. Not many people get to workout watching the sun rise every morning! Debbie G. - Northwest AustinYour boot camp class was the first exercise class of my life, and I was nervous at first. The most noticeable change that came out of joining the boot camp, was a more personal one - I feel better about myself, more confident, I have more energy and I'm more limber. Not to mention my body is over all tighter, and more toned after only 12 workout sessions. I also took a Pilate's class one Saturday. That is something I always dreamed of doing but felt too out of shape and nervous to do. Now I feel like I can take any and all kinds of exercise classes and not feel so out of place. I also don't feel like a hypocrite buying healthy food, and I feel like I want to continue buying food that is good for me. I also feel like I can finally run along side my boyfriend (who is fit), and keep up - whereas before I would not have even attempted it. I will definitely take another boot camp class. The results were great -- I wanted a kick-start to fitness and weight loss, and this has given me exactly that. I'm now ready for mtn biking and am on the track for losing more weight as well. Laura L. - Northwest AustinIt has been the best motivator for me. I have never been a very athletic person, so this got me excited to work out. I looked forward to it every day. I would love to do this every month! At the beginning of class I was able to do 12 push ups and my run time was about 15 minutes. At the end of class I was able to do 35 push ups and my run time was 10:31. I was so proud of what I could do! It's still hard to believe. Misti E. - Bee CaveI really love camp. I'm 33 and have 4 kids... you know the story. I had hit a point where NOTHING worked. I tried every diet in the world and nothing changed. It's still slow progress, but boot camp has really helped. I don't know the total inches lost in the first class, but I know I lost 2" off my thigh - wow! Thank you for providing this in so many convenient locations. It's hard to state which exercise is my favorite, but I would have to say that the most noticeable difference is in my upper body. My arms get more and more toned every time we work on them. I feel healthier and my clothes are fitting better, and I can see definition in my arms and legs where I used to have just flab. She keeps her eye on my form, and always gives a great demonstration on how to do each exercise correctly, so I can be sure to get the most bang for my workout buck. And of course, her muscular physique and personal commitment to her own fitness and health is a huge inspiration. She is extremely knowledgeable about nutrition as well, and has answered my questions about everything ranging from "What time of day is it best to eat carbs?" to "If I am going to drink alcohol, which type is the healthiest?" I have learned a lot from her. Stephanie is organized, motivated, fun to talk to, and she is getting my butt in gear! I have worked with a few trainers over the years, and Stephanie is by far the best one. Seana W. - Northwest AustinI really enjoy this program. Once I began working full-time, I was never able to maintain a consistent routine. I like the variety every week and the all-women group environment. I didn’t think that I would be able to wake up at 4:40 a.m. three times a week to workout for an hour, outdoors no less. I thought that I was not going to have the energy to survive a whole day at work. Surprisingly, I did not feel tired but more energized. I really liked the idea having different parts of my body being worked out during the week and that I’m not just running. I would recommend this type of camp to others who need a good workout.
